The LAC is a great place to workout- a gym where everyone is welcome. It feels comfortable to work out here no matter who you are and what your goals are. I did personal training with Carmen and she really increased my confidence in doing strength training on my own. Highly recommend both the gym and the personal training!

Rissa Wray provided an initial free consulation for Strength Training, which was a 1st time experience for me. I was so impressed with her knowledge & expertise that I chose a follow-up "package" of three (paid) classes 1:1. Rissa is a wonderful educator! She provided clear instructions, patience throughout, and a wealth of information in our sessions. I learned a lot about body mechanics, how best to perform the training to avoid injury, and ways to find a good balance of gentle & incremental progress. After the initial session, I was immediately aware of increased energy which, as a septuagenarian, is always good news! She also promotes brief rest and hydration between "reps" for the most benefit. Rissa invited my questions & was consistently friendly, open, and thorough, throughout our sessions together. Much gratitude to Rissa.

Lloyd Athletic is a great gym - and I especially recommend Rissa Wray for personal strength training. She's very educated and takes great care to modify for your specific body's needs, which makes me feel confident to push myself without worrying about injury. I'm noticeably stronger and more mobile and more flexible since training with her.

I’ve been working with Rissa on strength training and the difference in my tone, balance, and overall stability has been incredible. She’s patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and explains everything in a way that really clicks. What I appreciate most is how she meets you where you are, never pushing too hard, but always challenging you just enough to keep progressing. I feel stronger, more confident, and truly supported. Trainer Elaine is a very good teacher: knowledgeable, interested, observant, patient & kind, humorous! She’s a stickler for form, which I really appreciate, because at age 75 I don’t want to hurt myself. After just a couple months of training, I’m already much stronger and more energetic. Highly recommend!

Elaine is an amazing trainer. I have issues with carpal tunnel and has helped me work around it. She's also working to help me address my diastasis recti and has re-tailored my workouts to accommodate my pregnancy.

I take small group classes and weekly classes from Megan, and is an awesome trainer. She's got great energy and is a wealth of information. Moreover, shes specific with posture and muscle engagement, and patient with explaining everything. Try out a class!

Charlie Anzaldo is a terrific trainer. He has guided me, encouraged me, each work out session is different, keeps it interesting, and his guidance is so light, there is just not a lot of correction, which I have seen other trainers do and don't care for. Charlie is AMAZING, recommended 10/10.

Justin is a terrific trainer. He listened, always made sure I was safe, and pushed me to get stronger. He greatly increased my mobility which was my goal. I will continue to practice what he taught me and I will look forward to checking in with him on my progress. I wish I had found him sooner.

Leaving this review after 3 great sessions with Tara! She has made custom workouts that are making me stronger and more confident, things that are challenging and easy to incorporate into my gym time. My routines have more interesting and effective movements. She has honed in on areas where I need to develop strength that will serve me beyond our sessions together. Tara is a gem, a natural coach, and an expert who is happy to share her knowledge. I'm SO glad I got paired up with her. THANK YOU Tara!

I've been working with Evan just over a month he has made the whole experience enjoyable. I had never stepped foot in a gym and was nervous/anxious about getting started. Every workout he goes over how to do each exercise and how it targets each specific muscle group. Even takes the time to text through our the week to check in and see how I'm doing. Definitely recommend him!

I have started training with Charlie at the club and I really like his over-all view of fitness as it relates to the entirety of life and mental wellness. I feel comfortable and accepted and my previous knowledge is valued. Charlie is really the expert, and you can tell this is more than a job to him. He really tailors a workout to your strengths but also makes it fun and is encouraging while you do things that are more challenging. I am especially impressed with his ability to help the many different types of clients he has; but as a woman the respect and compassion has been especially refreshing. Charlie is playful, loyal, inspired and really knows his stuff; don't miss out before he gets famous online!

My trainer Carmen is the best! I am a very unathletic person who dislikes sports. She is willing to work with my preferences, and pays close attention to my abilities and form. I told her I’m easily bored and so she gives me a wide variety of things to do that make me feel stronger and happier in my body. I wouldn’t go to the gym without her.

I was only able to work with Khino for a short time, but he was still able to significantly increase the intensity and variety of my workouts, and I started to see and feel the results within a few months. I’ve had a lot of injuries in the past, and he was careful to work around problem areas and find solutions so I could still get full body workouts. I would definitely work with him again in the future.

I've been training with Khino for four months now, and even though that is a relatively short time frame, his breadth of knowledge around strength and resistance training and application of body mechanics in our sessions has been instrumental in my health and healing journey. I’ve lived with debilitating chronic pain on the left side of my neck and shoulder region for over a decade. Over the years, I have sought various treatment interventions and modalities with minimal relief and, at best, temporary or short-lived. Now, combined with biweekly chiropractic treatment and strength training, for the first time in a long time, I’ve experienced most days with little to no pain. I can’t emphasize enough how impactful this is on my existence– it's like a whole new life! My only regret is that I wish I would have found Khino sooner!

I started training with Portland Physical Training about a year ago and haven’t looked back! I have always felt intimidated by the idea going to a gym and was overwhelmed about where to start and what I could/should do. I needed someone to walk me through how to get the most out of the gym, to give me the confidence to pursue fitness on my own, and to keep me coming back every week.
So far I’ve worked with both Khino and Nataliia who have enthusiastically given me everything I’ve wanted and more. They don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach, and they understand my goals and what’s important to me so that we can focus on that every session. I have always felt that I could ask them anything without feeling stupid or like I don’t “belong” there. They are clearly experts at what they do but are very kind and welcoming to newbies like me. I end every session feeling tired but accomplished at having completed the workouts they designed for me. I can’t recommend PPT strongly enough!

I had such a great experience working with Khino as a personal trainer. I hadn't worked with a personal trainer before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, and Khino set the bar HIGH! My goals were 1) get stronger, 2) increase gym-confidence (going into a gym and knowing what to do). He surpassed both of those goals, making me feel comfortable and greatly improving my fitness. Highly recommend!

I strongly endorse Khino as a personal trainer! In the past 3 months, he skillfully helped me shed fat and build strength. With his expertise in personal training and background as a professional weightlifting coach, he's an excellent choice for individuals at any fitness level. I’ve worked with personal trainers in several different cities, and Khino is great. He has good knowledge of body mechanics, challenges you with every session, but also quickly modifies exercises and keeps it tailored to your current needs day by day. I highly recommend working with him to help you with your health and fitness goals.

Highlight of my travel nurse contract in Portland! Definitely a reason to come back too. Khino was my trainer and we built a great working relationship. Pushed me just the right amount and let me complain when some days were harder than others. Always on time and even worked with me via FaceTime when I was on vacation. Highly recommend Portland personal training and the whole gym.

Phil is awesome! I had 12 sessions with Phil, and coming in for training to supplement martial arts it was great to work with someone who has an extensive background in multiple disciplines. Phil is very knowledgeable, understanding and accommodating of different needs, and very open to try out different exercises and really play in the gym. If you're looking for a dynamic workout with an emphasis on holistic physical growth this is the place to go

Khino is the best of the best when it comes to changing your life. Khino’s leadership ways as a trainer teach u not to depend on his guidance but leave u with all the knowledge u will ever need.
13 years ago when I first stepped into a gym, Khino witnessed me doing a squat horribly, out of personal worry about me hurting myself he helped me. Showing me form etc.., I then decided to higher him and after our 3 month contract I was hooked!
13 years later weight training and overall fitness is just a way of life thanks to his leadership. This guys the real deal!

Intimidated by gym culture? Me too! I needed help learning how to weight train and build muscle and I got lucky when I chose Portland Personal Training. It's been a life-changing experience.
Khino is an approachable, patient and consistent trainer with a great sense of humor. He leads an amazing team and program. You can really feel the love at this place. The club is so welcoming and safe. The positive vibe is strong and the community is real. Training with PPT has been a balm for all that ailed me, a healing experience; mind, body and soul.
I especially appreciate their intention to create a safe space for queer and non-binary folks. Not even a whiff of toxic masculinity here.
So grateful to PPT for creating a custom fit for me, supporting me to reach my goals, and building skills I'll use for life. A deep and endless thank you from a very happy (and ripped, like, totally shredded) customer.

I have been going to LAC for about 10 years. I have really appreciated the changes made by the new owners. The facilities have been freshened up. The energy of the staff is positive. And the clientele is more diverse. And I particularly appreciate Portland Personal Training and Weight Loss trainers. They are professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Check this place out if you want to workout at an athletic club that has good facilities at reasonable prices and is inclusive of all types of people.
