Phil is awesome! I had 12 sessions with Phil, and coming in for training to supplement martial arts it was great to work with someone who has an extensive background in multiple disciplines. Phil is very knowledgeable, understanding and accommodating of different needs, and very open to try out different exercises and really play in the gym. If you're looking for a dynamic workout with an emphasis on holistic physical growth this is the place to go

So appreciative of the environment for growth that Khino cultivates with PPT.

As someone not familiar with gyms or fitness at all but looking to make a lifestyle change that incorporated more activity and resulted in increased strength and mobility, it was intimidating to start but the process, but from the moment training began it has been educational, welcoming and fun.

I’d definitely recommend working with Khino to achieve your personal fitness goals. Lots of flexible approaches for any schedule and budgets, a great motivational presence, and a boundless amount of fitness knowledge (plus he’s always ready with an appropriate sitcom quote for any scenario). I’ve loved my experience.

Khino is the best of the best when it comes to changing your life. Khino’s leadership ways as a trainer teach u not to depend on his guidance but leave u with all the knowledge u will ever need.13 years ago when I first stepped into a gym, Khino witnessed me doing a squat horribly, out of personal worry about me hurting myself he helped me. I have been going to LAC for about 10 years. I have really appreciated the changes made by the new owners. The facilities have been freshened up. The energy of the staff is positive. And the clientele is more diverse. And I particularly appreciate Portland Personal Training and Weight Loss trainers. They are professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. Check this place out if you want to workout at an athletic club that has good facilities at reasonable prices and is inclusive of all types of people.

Had such a great experience here! I worked with Alberto and he was so helpful and encouraging, he always made sure to ask if I had questions and helped me fix anything I felt I wasn't doing correctly. He gave me lots of tips for in the gym, as well as exercises I can do at home! Would definitely reccomend:)
Aly has been a friend of mine for a long while now and when it came to finding someone to help me out in improving myself physically, I had nothing but 100% trust in her for my choice. She’s made every session I’ve had with her a fun experience and has worked with me in specific areas I need work on with no pressure and absolute ease. She’s very personable and patient, which definitely eased my anxiety of coming in to something new like this. She’s shown the aspects of a great personal trainer that I’ve always thought of them to have. I may come out of each session a little achy and sweaty, but at least I’m having a fun and enjoyable time doing it! Her humor and personality definitely will ease up anyone new coming in to this. One of the best decisions of my life! I've always struggled with exercising and intimidated by going to the gym, fear of being judged, lack of enthusiasm and excitement. I contacted Nick and he called me the next day. I explained to him that I don't wanna get overwhelmed, pushed too hard and get bulky. He listened very carefully and answered all my questions in detail and with patience. long story short I've been going to the gym every week since then and man oh man I have been enjoying it. I am training with Derek and he's like the most humble awesome trainer I've ever seen. He's extremely knowledgeable and makes sure you're enjoying the exercise. As cheesy as it sounds I LOVE going to the gym now. There are many different options financially and you can chose the one that fit you most. The gym itself has everything you need. The showers and lockers are super clean and you don't have to rent a locker like many other places, you can borrow a lock from the front desk. There is a lounge area which is very cool and the other day I just sat there working before my exercise session, enjoying a free cup of coffee. Another option they have which I am using as well is a small group training session 3 times a week and honestly it feels the same as personal training session. They focus on your work constantly and help you through it. I like the 1-1 sessions because I would like to discuss each exercise with Derek and sometimes I'm really tired or soar, so he updates the sets accordingly. Just go to a free session, they won't force you to make your mind right away AT ALL. even after a month they ask if you want to continue or not. Hope anyone who reads this would give them and most importantly yourself a chance.

I’ve been training with Khino for about 4 months now, and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him, Portland Personal Training and Lloyd Athletic Club.Khino has an unbelievable depth of knowledge, not only about how best to train to hit your goals but how to do it efficiently and safely.I’ve made major progress in my personal fitness journey and almost more importantly, I’m learning how to continue my progress on my own if I’m ever traveling or in a new gym.The Lloyd Athletic Club staff has been incredibly kind and motivating, and the gym is always clean and well organized. It has that community/family feeling that I don’t think you would get at a commercial fitness center.If you’re considering personal training, I would highly recommend Portland Personal Trainers, and if you’re lucky enough to work with Khino, you’ve won the trainer lottery as well.

SO WORTH IT! I came to Portland in February 2021 and was in desperate need of getting back in shape and I had no motivation to do it on my own, so I looked up gyms with personal trainers and this one had the best reviews. I signed up and was paired with Aly. We met about 3 times a week. She is great with communication, she really motivates you when those reps are getting hard, and she really cares about her clients. I was in school and my schedule was always changing (thanks COVID 😕) and she was more than willing to work with me. She even gave me some great recommendations on food, shops, and sights in the area since I was new to Portland. Oh! And she also put together some workouts for me to do on my own time either at home or at the gym on days that we didn’t meet.The gym itself has tons of different equipment and is very clean and organized. There is plenty of space, although on busy days you might have to wait your turn to use something. Unfortunately I never attended any of the classes they host but they have plenty to chose from! All of the other staff that I met were very friendly as well, always greeting me when I came in and saying goodbye when I left. It may seem small but things like that make me feel like it’s my family ☺️ I wish I could continue going to this gym but unfortunately my job requires otherwise.Much love to everyone at Lloyd Athletic Club!!! And especially Aly because she really is awesome! 😉

Alina is a great instructor and I really enjoy training with her as well as the results I'm already experiencing. I feel great and always look forward to the varying challenges she offers during our sessions. I've learned a lot from her as she's created, guided, and helped me develop my workouts, all the while demonstrating versatility and patience in her teaching. Her experience in competitive boxing makes it very rewarding to be learning the fundamentals of the sport from her, which I've found to not only be great cardio exercise but a great form of stress relief. I have been seeing Carlee Roe at Portland Personal Training since last August though due to traveling and then the pandemic, I didn't have access to training from January through June. Now that the gym has reopened in Phase 1, I have started back for the past couple of months. Carlee and the staff at Lloyd Athletic Club/Portland Personal Training have been following protocol for making the gym and equipment safe for us to use. The club is requiring everyone inside the building to wear masks and to sanitize their hands before beginning to work out, temperature is taken upon entering the building, stairways are one direction, and all equipment is sanitized before and after working out during training. Since racquetball is not being played right now, the courts are being used by the trainers and clients so there's lots of space to be physically distanced from each other (there's just two of us in this court). There are hand sanitizing stations in various places in the building as well. The staff is making sure to count the # of people in the gym at any given time so that there's plenty of space and no chance of any crowding at all. I feel safe using the gym in this manner, and Carlee makes me work much harder than I would if I was doing this on my own, especially because sometimes, at age 65, I just want to be lazy. She's cheerful so it's hard to get mad at her for making me bust my butt 🙂

I love my experience with Portland Personal Training! I’ve been consistently going there for 2 years now and plan to keep going. The owner, Nick, I’ve trained with for a year and a half. Nick is professional, diligent, cares about his staff and clients and ensures a productive and enjoyable experience. Most recently I’ve been training with Carmen who is an absolute delight! I am always happy to see her on the mornings that I train as she has a beautiful smile and is upbeat and warm. Her skills as a trainer are terrific and she keeps things moving and also fun. Aly from Portland Personal Training is amazing to work with!! She has made it incredibly easy to achieve my fitness goals by creating a tailored workout regimen that is simple to follow. Khino is a great trainer; he will push you to your limits if you like that and always has great advice on nutrition and exercise. I usually walk/run everyday and work out with him once a week. I feel stronger and challenged with every session. Khino is also flexible and listens to what we want or need, such as ending a session with some stretching for example. I look forward to my training sessions every week.

My husband started working out with Khino a few years ago and I finally joined in the fun this year. I really enjoy my weekly work out session: it's my de-stress, feel-good, work-hard time. It also keeps me in check the rest of the week during my walks or morning runs. Khino plans our workouts looking at our strengths and weakness, but caring that we are not over stressing our bodies or injuring ourselves. He is also flexible and listens to what we would like to do differently or areas we want to work more.

I've worked out with Carlee for two years and so much fun! She challenges me and also keeps me accountable to my fitness goals. Nothing is ever routine, she keeps it fresh and inventive. Trainer Carlee is an absolute delight to work out with. I have been training with her for about nine months (I followed her from another gym, even!) and not only do I feel stronger every day, I actually enjoy getting to spend time with her during my training sessions. I love having one on one sessions as well as group sessions. The groups offer more independence but still allow for a trainer to help you when you have questions. I feel stronger and more confident. Khino is a great guy.. would recommend him to anyone!!!

I started training with PPT about 4 or 5 months ago with my fiance, and I could not be more impressed. I have done gym memberships before off and on again for years and had minimal results. We work with Khino for our one on one session, and attend the group sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The Trainers are kind, and knowledgeable, and the prices are very reasonable. Its a great community and the other participants are not "meat heads" or grumpy gym rats, but instead every day folks looking to be fit just like us. I absolutely encourage you to give it a go.

I have loved my personal and group training experience so far at Lloyd Athletic Club. It has a very comfortable vibe and all trainees are extremely helpful at answering basic questions without judgement.

Adam is a very knowledgeable personal trainer and goes above and beyond to communicate with me in between sessions. Same can be said for the group trainer, Khino. Khino is incredibly patient and takes the time to give personal guidance even within the group session. I feel very comfortable even though I am not a gym buff of any kind.

I have lost 10 pounds so far. I am very happy with my progress so far toward getting ready for my wedding day in a month. I highly recommend this gym!

My experience with Portland Personal Training this past year has been pretty incredible. As a categorical ectomorph, or “hardgainer”, I’ve historically had trouble putting on healthy weight my entire life. My husband observed and researched personal trainers carefully, before he picked one for me. I am very thankful he selected Nick, because I was 72, and had been completely sedentary for the previous 20 years! The whole family was concerned about me, but I, however, had zero interest in going to a gym.After four years of training with Nick, I can say I’m in the best shape I ever was. (I was a nationally-ranked athlete in my teens and twenties.) I still don’t love it, but I do it faithfully because Nick inspires me to want to do it. I feel completely safe with him, because he teaches me to trust my body. Yet his attention to detail means he is always alert to any time my form slips to a less correct and less productive one. I now know the difference between just going through the motions, and getting the full benefit of doing it at the highest level.His Health Coaching has also inspired me to embark on the “Reset Diet,” also called “the Whole Thirty.” After being at the same weight the last twenty years, I have dropped fifteen pounds in a month-and-a-half, and feel as if it will be no trouble to keep it off. I am so grateful Nick came into my life. I know I would not be at the gym a single day if it weren’t for him!I also have sampled all three of the gyms where he or his other trainers (all wonderful) work. I began working with Portland Personal Training just over 6 months ago. I'd had 3 kids in under three years (twins) and was about 60 pounds overweight and continuing to gain. My eating was out of control. I felt pretty hopeless about ever getting back into shape and losing the weight, but decided it couldn't hurt to try them out...turns out, this was the best decision I've made in years! I'm being completely honest and 100% genuine when I say that. Not only have I lost 50lbs and decreased my body fat percentage by over 10%, they've helped me learn how to live a healthier lifestyle so that these results are lasting. I've worked with trainers in the past and belonged to several gyms, and they always felt overbearing, generic, and manipulative. The trainers at PPT are more genuine than any trainers I've ever encountered.When I first began working with PPT, my goal was just to "lose weight". With their guidance and coaching, that goal transformed into more specific and lasting goals; losing fat, gaining muscle, and getting STRONG! I started out with a lot of cardio and HIIT training and eventually switched gears to more heavy weight lifting. They have guided me through the different stages of my health and fitness journey and adapted to my goals all along the way. And I can honestly say I feel like they genuinely care that I achieve my goals. That is the mark of a truly great and rare personal trainer. Lifting weights has become something I absolutely love. My name is Craig Garrison. I have recently completed a round of training with Khino Brackeen of Portland Personal Training. The training was in two phases, a series of 1-hour workouts, 2 times per week and a final phase of 2 weeks of 4 half hour sessions per week. In addition, I did an additional hour of warm up and ropes every work-out day.I have found Khino to be knowledgeable, responsive and sensitive to the needs and limitations (I am 72 years old) I have as well as the goals I set at the beginning of the sessions. I can state without reservation that I am pleased with Khino and the routines he has developed for me. During this most recent series I was pleased to notice that my posture improved, my strength increased, and my other fitness work improved substantially. For example, I ride 12-15 miles 5-6 times per week during the summer months. While under Khino’s instruction I have noticed substantial improvements in endurance, with my normal ride time going from 1.5 hours to 1 hour consistently.I recommend this company without reservation. Whatever your goals are, Khino and the rest of the group can develop a program that will reflect your personal fitness goals at whatever level you choose. You will be in the hands of professional trainers that will assist you in making measurable and noticeable progress. In addition, Khino is a great guy and fun to interact with. I am going to continue to work with Khino over winter.

I'm an engineering student and I was interested in getting in shape. I knew there was an efficient way to go about it, but I didn't know the first thing about personal fitness. I did some research on the web, and read up on a few things, and figured...how hard can this be? Right? Boy was I wrong. I started working with Khino Brackeen, and I found out very quickly that there's a complete and comprehensive science to it. My advice to any would-be fitness beginners is to forego the googling, and consult the professionals at Portland Personal Training. I started at 270 lbs and began a weight loss journey, only focusing on my diet. One day Nathan asked if he and I could start meeting once a week and work on a plan to start my gaining muscle journey. Something has to replace all the fat I had lost. So I began lifting a few weights, doing some body weight strength training strategies and in between, I’d run on the treadmill. One day in our weekly meeting, I do the warm ups and squats, etc and I’m told to get on the treadmill and do a 0.1 mile run. It was something small like that. I looked at him and said “ I actually like running..” He looks at me with a look of epiphany and said, “Let’s go with that then” and since then, Running has been my passion. I’m not obsessed with it but when I need a challenge, that’s my #1 focus. I do love to run! 115.00 lbs lighter, running and feeling like a whole new person. I couldn’t have done any of that without Nathans encouragement and giving me a plan. Where I’m not quite to my final goal, he has been with me through the entire journey and I really appreciate all he has done for me. I highly recommend Nathan Tyler for a personal trainer!

I'm super picky about trainers so I observed Khino for a few months and tapped him to help me get conditioned for a 2 week hiking trip of Mt. Blanc. He is very professional and knowledgeable as well as fun to work out with. Mixing it up between using my own body weight, TRX and weights as well as my adding cardio, he pushed me much more than I would have pushed myself and the results are some muscle building, stamina and weight loss. I highly recommend Khino for all of your fitness goals.

I was desperate to get all that unhealthy, unhappy weight off my body. I had to get honest with myself that I could not do it on my own. I knew I needed to find a good, but reasonable personal trainer to help me at this point. I googled and found Nick and this amazing personal training group.

This personal training is like none other I have ever experienced or heard of. The trainers genuinely care, take the time to educate, and tailor each workout to maximize the results you are looking for while keeping each session different and moving so that you are not bored and your body is constantly changing. I lost 14 lbs in the first 30 days and am now down 30 lbs since January of this year (4 mos). Each week I still look forward to my group training sessions in the gym and not dread.

Nick and the staff at PPT truly care about your success, and they work with your needs and abilities. There are no high pressure sales, no promises of overnight miracles - just support, flexibility and a genuine interest in helping you achieve your goals. They provide a variety of ways to meet your objectives - "one on one" time with a trainer; group training several times a week; two locations; a journaling system to keep you on track -pretty much the only other thing they could do is the actual work-out. But then, really, what would you do? I can't recommend them enough. PPT is worth the investment in yourself.

I talked to Portland Personal Training and Weight Loss 2 weeks before Labor Day to do their WELLNESS TRAINING program, gave myself a couple weeks to prepare (and celebrate my husband’s birthday) and started on Monday 9/5/16.

My experience with Portland Personal Training was not supposed to be so fantastic. Odds were against me – 63 year old 280 lbs male with some medical issues. All I wanted to do was to make tying my shoes a little easier. Then the staff at my gym highly recommended Nick Davidson at @Portland Personal Training & Weight Loss as the person I needed. It turned out that Nick, Khino and all the staff at PPT had bigger plans for me. They were on the job right off putting together a plan for exercise, diet, attitude, and, most of all, remarkable results. I achieved 55lbs of weight loss in 9 months by being guided to make basic life style, nutrition and attitude changes. Nick and Khino have literally saved my life. When they say a personal program, they are not kidding. I have been overweight and out of shape for years. Nick worked out a program and addressed my thyroid issues. I eliminated a lot of foods from my diet and for the first time since 2002, I LOST weight. 27 lbs to date. Khino provides exercises that I can do without killing myself. I also don't have the aches and pains I did before I played at the gym twice a week. I haven't felt this good in years. I heartily recommend these people if you want change in your life and choose to feel better.

I am a retired 70+ woman and have been training with Nick for about a year. When I began, I hadn't formally exercised for a couple of decades (not a typo). Nick gave me the encouragement I needed to get started and the consistent support to keep me on track. He is very intuitive and seems to know just when to push and how hard. He varies my routines and adjusts them to my particular physical limitations. He is extremely pleasant to work with, and I recommend everyone take advantage of the free initial session that he offers. If you do, you'll be back!

My husband and I have been working with Nick and Khino at Portland Personal Training for close to a year now. Our main goal was fitness and weight loss. They are extremely knowledgeable and really dedicated to their work! I have a couple of existing injuries and they have been really careful not to aggravate these problem areas, while giving me strengthening exercises to help my recovery too. I like that they are concerned and careful but at the same time, they know when to push you and when to hold back. They take a personal interest in your workouts and results and their interaction with you goes beyond the 1 hour sessions in the gym. Nick would text and follow up with me about my workouts on non-training days too. Khino is always stressing the importance of our diet and gives us tips on what to eat at home so that our one hour at the gym has more of an impact (which is very important when you're a foodie with limited will power:) ). I can't say enough about these guys...highly recommend a trial session with them and that will speak for itself. They put the word "personal" in personal training! The trial session was all it took for us to be convinced that these guys are something else. After 6 months, we knew that this was the best investment we have made for our health 🙂

When I started with Nick, I had a very vague goal, of being healthier. Nick helped me hone in on a more specific target, and worked with me for over two years. Not only did I get "healthier" but I actually attained my specific target. When I got pregnant, Nick was right there guiding my workouts that was safe and fun. He has such a great sense of humorWith all the persistent (but gentle) work outs during pregnancy, I quickly lost the baby weight in only six weeks. I had a c-section, so I could not work out until after the six weeks. The weight came off (I believe) because I had great muscle and athletic endurance from my time pre-pregnancy with Nick. He knew when to push me, and when to back off. I cannot recommend him enough!

Training with Nick has been the best thing I've ever done for my fitness. He got me to a place where I was committed to eating healthy and being strong, even to the point where I was always determined to get my workout done regardless of how late it was. He also made it fun and worthwhile to get up for our morning workouts. By empowering me, I lost 15 pounds in less than 3 months and felt better than I ever had.

I have been training with Portland Personal Training for over 2 years now. I initially signed up for a free introductory session, which, I was sure, was not going to entice me to sign up. I've always worked out off & on and honestly thought I could take care of my fitness just fine on my own. In that one session, PPT showed me that I indeed was not doing all the right things for optimal fitness. I was sold! Two years later, I couldn't be happier. As a 40 year old woman, I'm in the best shape that I have ever been in. I love the affordability of the service, especially in comparison to the mental and physical health benefits that I get from it. A common sense trade off! PPT is very accommodating to my schedule, and I've worked with them at 2 different gyms, which is also nice for flexibility. I can't say enough good things!!! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
